There are many bivocational pastors who are not afraid to give away responsibility, but after years of serving as a Director of Missions, I can attest that there are also many who are. I can't even count the number of times a pastor has burned out and left the field and when I met with the church to help them look for a new pastor, they tell me the stories of how they offerred to do the bulliten, or clean the church, or visit the nursing home, but the pastor said he would do it. Though some lay people may lack the commitment to help, many lay people want to help the church be stronger. Pastors who use those who are willing, tend to find more people who become even more willing. God never intended the pastor to do it all alone. Thanks for your efforts and may God continue to lead you in your service to Him.Dr. Terry Dorsetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05964444127928103488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2134143779763240356.post-5502589332183060232012-03-08T09:50:24.192-05:002012-03-08T09:50:24.192-05:00I personally do not know any pastors that fear sha...I personally do not know any pastors that fear sharing responsibility. What does get overlooked is the fact that it is difficult to get the church body to do the things that need done. Pastors do not get burned out because they want all the control and responsibility. They get burned out because all the work load is left to them whether they want it or not.Pastor Mark Mitchellhttp://www.pastormarkmitchell.orgnoreply@blogger.com
